About this spot
Sawanoi-en (澤乃井園) is a garden facility run by Ozawa Shuzo, a local sake brewery. Dining areas and shops line a rise overlooking the Tama River (多摩川), so you can enjoy a meal while taking in the valley scenery. Tofu dishes and menus made with local ingredients are available, letting everyone fill up properly before river play. The grounds also have a museum and walking paths, packed with things to enjoy beyond the meal.

御岳渓谷は、青梅市の御岳本町から沢井にかけて多摩川両岸に広がる景勝地です。遊歩道は通年で通行でき、夏には浅瀬での川遊びを楽しむ家族連れでにぎわいます。澄んだ水が流れる浅瀬では、石を渡ったり水しぶきをあげたりと、自然の中でのびのび遊べます。木々に包まれた渓谷は夏でも涼しく、都会の暑さを忘れてゆったり過ごせる場所です。
Tips
水はひんやりと冷たいため、日差しのある暖かい時間帯に遊ぶのがおすすめです。渓谷内は岩場や滑りやすい場所もあるため、濡れても滑りにくい靴を用意しておくと安心です。遊歩道から河原へ下りる箇所もあるので、荷物は最小限にまとめておくと動きやすいです。
Tips
It is along the Mitake Valley walking path, easy to combine with a valley stroll. It can get crowded at lunchtime, so visiting a little earlier lets you eat in peace.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour. Stopping by at lunchtime before entering the valley is recommended.
