Around JR Shinano-Omachi Station are scattered local eateries serving Shinshu soba and more. Soba and udon made with Northern Alps spring water offer a flavor unique to this mountain town. Having a solid lunch before playing in the water lets you enjoy the afternoon with plenty of energy. The area in front of the station has a calm atmosphere, making it good for a relaxed family meal.
Tips
It's reachable from the Omachi Alpine Museum by car or on foot. Some restaurants also serve local mountain-vegetable dishes. Be careful not to overeat, since you'll be playing in the river in the afternoon.

About 1 hour. Arriving a little early for the lunch rush makes things go smoothly.
