Around JR Shinano-Omachi Station, local eateries serving Shinshu soba and other dishes are dotted about. Soba and udon made with spring water from the Northern Alps carry a flavor unique to a town among the mountains. Finishing a proper lunch before water play means you can enjoy the afternoon with plenty of energy. The area in front of the station has a calm atmosphere, well suited to an unhurried family meal.

大町市平を流れる上原用水を利用した川遊びスポットで、地元では「ぬるめ」の愛称で親しまれています。北アルプスの雪解け水が流れ込む用水路は真夏でも冷たく澄んでおり、暑い日の水遊びにぴったりです。常時開放されており入場は無料、定休日もないため思い立ったときに訪れやすいのも魅力です。浅い流れが続く区間が多く、小さな子どもでも安心して水に触れられます。
Tips
水は雪解け水のため気温より冷たく感じられるので、羽織るものがあると安心です。底は石や苔で滑りやすいのでウォーターシューズがあると安全です。日差しのある時間帯を選んで遊ぶと快適です。
Tips
You can travel from the Omachi Alpine Museum by car or on foot. Some places also serve local mountain-vegetable dishes. Take care not to overeat ahead of the afternoon in the water.
