About this spot

A highland facility spreading at the foot of Hakkoda in Moya, Aomori City. In winter it bustles as a ski resort, but in summer the Hills Thunder (ヒルズサンダー) roller luge runs, offering the exhilaration of sliding down the green slope. There are also tennis courts, an auto campsite and a barbecue garden, so it is built for a family to spend a whole day. Thanks to the elevation the breeze is cooler than in the city centre, making it easy to move around even in midsummer, and that is the charm of this place. The views from the open slope are lovely too, and you will not be able to stop taking photos. It is about a ten-minute drive from Wakuwaku Hiroba.

Tips

Activities such as the Hills Thunder and the barbecue garden are charged separately. Fees and operating hours change from year to year, so check the day's opening details on the official website before you set out. The roller luge may have height or age requirements, so if you are going with small children, it is safest to ask in advance. For lunch, either use the barbecue garden or eat in the city centre after the next stop; both make the day flow easily.
