Bamboo Path (竹の径)

About this spot

A walking path edged with bamboo fences, running along the hills of Muko City. This area has long been a bamboo grove district producing fine bamboo shoots, and the groves that farmers have tended by hand form the scenery of the path itself. There are several kinds of bamboo fence, and comparing the different weaves as you walk is interesting for adults too. The bamboo blocks the sunlight, so even on a midsummer morning it stays cool along the path. Kyoto City Rakusai Bamboo Park is right beside this path, so you can walk straight on into the grounds.

京都市洛西竹林公園竹林広場（バンブーフィールド）じゃぶじゃぶ池は、竹に囲まれた広場に現れる無料の水遊び場です。池は足首くらいの深さなので、歩き始めたばかりの小さな子でも保護者と一緒に入って遊べます。2026年は7/1(水)〜9/30(水)のうち土曜・日曜・祝日に通水し、7/18(土)〜8/31(月)は水曜を除く毎日通水するので、夏休み中は平日でも計画が立てられます。広場には傾斜地形を活かした滑り台などの遊具、芝生広場、東屋がそろっていて、水から上がったあとの居場所に困りません。竹林が日差しをやわらげてくれるため、夏でも体力の消耗が抑えられるのがこの水遊び場の魅力です。

Tips

開園は9:00〜17:00で入園は16:00まで、毎週水曜と年末年始は休園です。入園も水遊びも無料ですが、更衣室の案内は出ていないため、水着は下に着ていくかタオルポンチョを用意すると着替えがスムーズです。園内は起伏があるので、濡れた足でのサンダル移動は滑らないよう注意してください。東屋やベンチは荷物置き場としても使えるので、着いたら先に休憩場所を決めておくと動きやすくなります。

Tips

The surface is paved, but there are narrow sections, so take care when passing others with a stroller. There are no shops along the path, so prepare drinks in advance. Bamboo groves can have mosquitoes, so insect repellent makes it more comfortable. Walking it early lets you enjoy the cool hours before the sun climbs.
