Fountain at Kamekita Sanga Hiroba (かめきたサンガ広場の噴水)

About this spot

The fountain at Kamekita Sanga Hiroba is a water-play spot on the plaza north of JR Kameoka Station, where the water shoots up from the ground. There is no pond and no fence, so children can run freely among the jets, which makes it an ideal play area for kids who want to move about with all their might. During the 2026 summer holiday period, from Saturday 7/18 to Monday 8/31, it runs every day from 9:00 to 21:00; normally it runs on weekends and public holidays from late April to late November, and it is out of service from around late November to late April. The illumination starts at 18:00, and the spray lit up by the lights shows a face completely different from the daytime. It is free, and being right outside the station means you can head home as soon as you tire, which is another of this plaza's charms.

Tips

There is no information about changing rooms, so wearing swimwear underneath or bringing a towel poncho makes changing smoother. Shade on the plaza is limited, so during the day use a picnic sheet and hats for sun protection. If you play until evening, having a light layer on hand keeps wet bodies from getting cold. The illumination starts at 18:00, so if you are staying until after dark, check the times of your train home in advance.

Best time to visit

Arrive at 14:40 and you can play for a long stretch as the sun softens, staying right through to the 18:00 illumination.
