Koto Falls (琴滝)

About this spot

A waterfall in the mountains of Kyotamba Town, distinctive for the way the water slides down a single sheet of rock. The sound is said to resemble the melody of a koto, which is how it came to be called Koto Falls. The area around the basin is enclosed by trees, and even in midsummer the air feels distinctly cold. You reach it with only a short walk along a footpath from the car park, so it is no trouble even with small children. Tamba Nature Sports Park is about ten minutes away by car, making this just the right distance for the first stop of the morning.

京都府立丹波自然運動公園こどもの広場ジャブジャブ池は、30,000㎡の芝生広場「こどもの広場」の中にある水遊び場です。まわりが一面の草地なので、水から上がってそのまま芝生に寝転がって体を乾かす、という過ごし方ができます。45mジャイアントスライダーや地下迷路、コンビネーション遊具がすぐそばにあるため、水と遊具を行き来しながら長く遊べるのがこの公園の強みです。入園は無料で、ファミリープールのみ別料金になっています。2026年の開設期間は未発表で、例年は夏休み期間に開かれます。

Tips

公式には「ジャブジャブ池についてはイベント開催時などに限り水張りを行っています」と記されているため、出かける前に水張りの予定を必ず確認してください。園内は9:00〜17:00で、12/29〜1/3は休園です。更衣室の案内は出ていないので、水着は下に着ていくかタオルポンチョを用意すると着替えがスムーズです。芝生の上を濡れた足で歩くと草が付くので、上がったらすぐ拭けるようタオルを近くに置いておきましょう。

Tips

The footpath is earth and stone and becomes slippery after rain, so wear comfortable walking shoes. The rocks near the basin are wet, so hold hands with children as you walk. Check in advance whether there are shops or toilets, and bring drinks with you to be safe. There are insects in summer, so insect repellent makes the visit more comfortable.
