The Lawn Plaza Fountain at Kameoka Sports Park is a water play spot on the lawn plaza beside the leisure pool, of the type where water shoots up from the ground. There is no pond or fence, so you can run freely between the jets - the perfect playground for children who want to move their bodies as hard as they can. In summer the fountain runs at set intervals, so even waiting for the water to rise becomes part of the fun for children. Use of the park and the lawn plaza is free; only the leisure pool Kame Pu costs extra. The same plaza has wooden athletic play equipment, a zip line, a sandpit and a long slide, so there is no shortage of places to go once you come out of the water.

Operation changes from day to day, so checking Kameoka City's information before you set out avoids a wasted trip. No changing rooms are listed, so wear swimwear underneath or bring a towel poncho to change smoothly. The lawn plaza has little to block the sun, so guard against it with a picnic mat and hats.

Best time to visit

Arriving at 13:40 lets you spend the hot afternoon hours in the water and play on into the evening as the sun sinks.
