Kose Shinsui Park (古世親水公園)

About this spot

Kose Shinsui Park is a waterside park laid out on the site of the outer moat of Kameyama Castle. Water welling up from upstream forms a stream about 10 cm deep with a walkway alongside it, so parents can keep an eye on their children while walking. Stepping stones are set in the lower section, so a child who is afraid of the water can start by crossing on the stones, a gentle piece of design. Cherry, spirea and other seasonal flowers are planted here, and in summer the groves soften the sunlight. It is a city park open year-round with no admission charge, and because it uses natural spring water, no water-flow period is published.

Tips

The 2026 opening period has not been announced; in most years the summer school holidays are the time to go. The amount of water on the day changes with the weather, so check the Kameoka City guidance before you set out. The stepping stones can be slippery when wet, so wear water-play sandals to cross them. There is no notice about changing rooms, so wear swimwear underneath or bring a towel poncho to make changing easy.

Best time to visit

Arriving from 13:00 lets you spend the hot part of the afternoon in the water and play at a relaxed pace until around 16:00, as the sun begins to drop.
