Nango Park (南郷公園)

About this spot

A park in the center of Kameoka City, spreading along the shore of Nango Pond, which was once the outer moat of Kameyama Castle. The surface of the water is close at hand, and sitting on a shaded bench or on the grass brings a quiet stretch of time that hardly feels like the middle of town. Cherry trees are planted here, so in summer you can pick a spot in their shade to lay out a picnic sheet. A castle moat left as a park and turned into a place of rest for local people is a scene particular to Kameoka. Once lunch and a break are done here, Kose Shinsui Park is within walking distance.

Venue: 亀岡市・古世親水公園

古世親水公園は、亀山城の外堀跡に整備された親水公園です。上流から湧き出た水が深さ約10cmほどの小川となって流れ、その脇に通路が続いているので、保護者は歩きながら子どもを見守れます。下流部には飛び石が置かれており、水に入るのが怖い子は石の上を渡るところから始められるのが優しい造りです。桜やコデマリなど四季の花が植えられ、夏は木立が日差しをやわらげてくれます。常時開放の都市公園で料金はかからず、湧き水を利用しているため通水期間の公表はありません。

Tips

2026年の開設期間は未発表で、例年は夏休み期間が遊びどきです。当日の水量は天候によって変わるので、出発前に亀岡市の案内で確認しておくと安心です。飛び石は濡れると滑ることがあるので、水遊び用サンダルを履いて渡ってください。更衣室の案内は出ていないため、水着は下に着ていくかタオルポンチョを用意すると着替えがスムーズです。

Tips

It is safest to buy your lunch and drinks around JR Kameoka Station before heading over. Rubbish must be taken home, so bring plenty of bags. Some stretches around the pond have no fence, so always hold small children by the hand. Avoid entering the water right after eating; leaving 20 to 30 minutes before heading to Kose Shinsui Park is the safer plan.
