Hyogo Prefectural Arimafuji Park stream (Rock Garden)

About this spot

The stream at Hyogo Prefectural Arimafuji Park (兵庫県立有馬富士公園), in the Rock Garden near the Park Center, is a very shallow summer-only brook created by running water down the garden steps. In 2026 the water flows from Saturday, July 18 to Thursday, August 27, from 10:00 to 16:00. Since the play is about touching water as it tumbles down steps built of stone, it means dipping your feet, scooping up water, and chasing the flow rather than swimming. Because there is almost no depth, even small children unused to water and toddlers who have only just started walking can go in with confidence, which is a great appeal. Admission is free. It is cancelled in bad weather, and the start date may shift because of heavy rain.

Tips

There are no showers or changing rooms, so wear swimwear under your clothes and plan to towel off and change for the trip home. The stones get slippery when wet, so put children in water sandals or water shoes and agree in advance not to run. Bringing one plastic bag per person for wet clothes makes the journey back far more comfortable. It ends at 16:00, so get into the water by 15:00 at the latest for a good long play.

Best time to visit

From 14:30 the sun softens, and you can take your time right up to the 16:00 finish.
