Jodo-ji (浄土寺)

About this spot

Jodo-ji (浄土寺) is an ancient temple in Kiyotani-cho, Ono City, and its Jodo-do is designated a National Treasure. Inside the hall stands an Amida triad created by Kaikei, and the temple is famous for the dramatic sight of light streaming in through the shutter doors behind the statues, lighting them from below and giving the hall a reddish glow. It is an experience photographs cannot convey, so this is a place whose value comes from actually stepping inside. The precincts are spacious, and rather than running around, the fitting way to spend time here is walking quietly and looking. Himawari no Oka Park (ひまわりの丘公園) is only about 10 minutes away by car, the perfect distance for a first stop of the morning.

ひまわりの丘公園遊べる噴水は、小野市のひまわりの丘公園にある無料の親水施設で、噴水とミストの仕掛けがあります。2026年は4月29日(水)から9月30日(水)まで、10:00から16:30まで運転されます。運転する日は時期で決まっており、4月29日から5月6日と7月18日(土)から8月31日(月)は毎日、7月4日(土)から7月12日(日)と9月5日(土)から9月30日(水)は土日祝のみです。10分運転して5分休止をくり返す仕組みなので、止まっている間に休憩と水分補給を挟むリズムが自然にできあがり、小さな子でも無理なく長い時間を過ごせます。天候不順のときは運転を休止するため、出発前に天気と運転状況を確かめてください。

Tips

料金は無料です。着替えの場所は限られるので、水着は服の下に着ていき、帰りはタオルで拭いて着替えるつもりで準備しておきましょう。ぬれた服を入れるビニール袋を人数分用意しておくと帰りが快適です。休止の5分間は木陰に戻って水分をとる時間にあてると、熱中症を防ぎながら遊べます。16:30に運転が終わるので、遅くとも15時台には水に入っておいてください。

How the light inside the hall appears depends on the time of day and the weather, so visiting on a clear day leaves a stronger impression. There is no shop on the grounds, so prepare drinks before you set out. Agreeing with your children in advance that this is a place to view quietly will put your mind at ease.
