About this spot

Tsujikawayama Park (辻川山公園) is the yokai park that made Fukusaki Town famous overnight. A mechanism brings the kappa Gajiro (ガジロウ) up from the surface of the pond at fixed times, and the lifelike movement makes children and adults alike cry out. Scattered through the park and along the surrounding streets are yokai benches created from designs submitted by townspeople, and simply searching them out one by one turns into a small treasure hunt. It is an idea that could only have come from this town, the place where the folklorist Yanagita Kunio spent his childhood. Sarubia Park (さるびあ公園) is only a short drive away, making this a perfect first stop of the morning.

さるびあ公園じゃぶじゃぶ池は、神崎郡福崎町のさるびあ公園(福崎浄化センター修景施設)にある無料の水遊び場です。井戸水を使ったじゃぶじゃぶ池とせせらぎの川があり、真夏でもひんやりと冷たい水にふれられるのが大きな特徴です。公式には「毎年7月上旬オープン、9月下旬頃まで」と案内されており、時間は8:30から17:00まで。2026年の確定した日程はまだ公表されていないので、出かける前に町の案内で開設状況を確かめてください。園内にはふわふわドームと大型複合遊具、芝生広場もそろっているため、水に飽きたら遊具、体が冷えたら芝生と遊び方を切り替えながら長く過ごせます。無人で管理されているため、6歳以下の子どもは必ず保護者が付き添って利用してください。

Tips

料金は無料です。井戸水は冷たいので、唇の色が変わる前に上がらせて、タオルで拭いて休ませるくらいのつもりで見守りましょう。着替えの場所は限られるため、水着は服の下に着ていくと安心です。ぬれた服を入れるビニール袋を人数分持っていくと帰りが快適です。ふわふわドームは日ざしで表面が熱くなることがあるので、触って確かめてから遊ばせてください。

Tips

Admission is free. The kappa appears on a fixed timetable, so check the times on the information board as soon as you arrive. Some spots have little to block the sun, so put a hat on the children from the start. A few of the yokai statues look quite fierce, so telling a timid child in advance that they are just models will put them at ease.
