The Akashi Kaikyo National Government Park Splash Pond (国営明石海峡公園 じゃぶじゃぶ池) is a water play area next to the Yumekko Land (夢っこランド) play equipment zone. The park officially states that "the splash pond is open from April to October," and it typically runs from Wednesday, April 1 to Saturday, October 31, with hours following the park's own opening times. Fountains and water guns mean children can do more than just soak in the water: they can create their own play by spraying it and getting sprayed, which is what makes it fun. Because it is open from spring through autumn and not only in summer, you can also come simply to dip your feet once the heat has eased. Park admission is required, but it is free for junior high school students and younger, so families with children have almost no extra cost. The play equipment area is right next door, so you can move between water and playground and spend a long time here.
