About this spot

On Shobu Pond (菖蒲池) at the centre of Nakajima Park (中島公園), you can take out a rowing boat during the summer. Unlike the view from the bank, the fun here is seeing the park's trees and the roof of Hoheikan (豊平館) from close to the surface of the water. Working the oars is a job for the adults, but children are delighted just peering down into the water. The ride is fairly short, making it a well-judged detour before the afternoon water play. The promenade around the pond is pleasant too, so a walk after you get off is also recommended.

中島公園水遊び場は、園内の菖蒲池まわりの流れで水遊びが楽しめる無料の水辺です。2026年の開設期間は未発表で、例年は夏休み期間にあたります。札幌市の案内では開放期間・時間の定めは特になしとされているため、当日の水辺の様子を見ながら遊ぶ形になります。深いプールとは違って浅い流れなので、小さな子でも足をひたすところから始められるのが安心なところ。まわりは木立に囲まれていて日差しがさえぎられ、大人は岸辺で涼しく見守れます。園内にはトイレと売店があり、着替えも飲み物の調達もその場で完結します。

Tips

開設期間・時間が定められていないため、出発前に当日の状況を確認してから向かってください。石や砂で足を切らないよう、水遊び用サンダルを履かせておくと安心です。地下鉄中島公園駅・幌平橋駅から歩いてすぐなので、着替えたあとの帰り道が短いのも助かります。夕方は日陰が増えて冷えるので、体を拭いたら早めに乾いた服に着替えましょう。
