The Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art is a prefectural museum that introduces works by artists connected to Hokkaido along with special exhibitions from Japan and abroad. The galleries are quiet and air-conditioned, making it an ideal place to spend a hot summer morning. Viewing guides for children are sometimes provided, and talking with your child about how to look at a painting is time that only a museum can offer. The building is surrounded by trees and lawns, so walking outside after seeing the exhibits feels good too. It is just a short walk from Nishi-18-chome Station on the subway.

日新公園水遊び場は、札幌市中央区の日新公園にある無料の水遊び場です。2026年は6月29日(月)から8月30日(日)まで、10:00〜16:00に開放されます。浅い水遊び場なので、水を怖がる小さな子でも足をひたすところから少しずつ慣れていけます。地元の子どもたちが集まる身近な公園で、大きな施設のような行列や待ち時間がないのが良いところです。木陰のベンチから大人が見守れる規模なので、初めての水遊びデビューにも向いています。街なかにあるため、遊んだあとの帰り道が短いのも家族連れにはうれしい点です。

Tips

水遊び場の運用は天候によって変わることがあるため、出発前に当日の状況を確認してください。足元を切らないよう水遊び用サンダルを履かせましょう。着替えの場所は限られるので、上から羽織れるタオルやポンチョがあると便利です。住宅街の中の公園なので、周辺では静かに過ごすよう声をかけておきましょう。16:00に終了するため、15時半には片づけを始めると余裕をもって帰れます。

Exhibition periods, opening hours and admission fees differ by exhibition, so check the official website. It helps to agree in advance not to run inside and not to touch the works. Ask at reception whether strollers may be used. There are lockers, so you can leave your bags and look around unencumbered.
