Next to the museum of modern art stands this historic Western-style building surrounded by greenery, together with its garden. Well-kept lawns and large trees spread out, with a stillness that makes you forget you are in the middle of the city. The garden can be walked for free, so it makes a perfect detour for catching your breath after the museum. Children enjoy simply walking across the lawn and through the shade, while adults can take in the details of the building at leisure. Since the afternoon is for water play, the ideal way to spend time here is without using up too much energy.

日新公園水遊び場は、札幌市中央区の日新公園にある無料の水遊び場です。2026年は6月29日(月)から8月30日(日)まで、10:00〜16:00に開放されます。浅い水遊び場なので、水を怖がる小さな子でも足をひたすところから少しずつ慣れていけます。地元の子どもたちが集まる身近な公園で、大きな施設のような行列や待ち時間がないのが良いところです。木陰のベンチから大人が見守れる規模なので、初めての水遊びデビューにも向いています。街なかにあるため、遊んだあとの帰り道が短いのも家族連れにはうれしい点です。

Tips

水遊び場の運用は天候によって変わることがあるため、出発前に当日の状況を確認してください。足元を切らないよう水遊び用サンダルを履かせましょう。着替えの場所は限られるので、上から羽織れるタオルやポンチョがあると便利です。住宅街の中の公園なので、周辺では静かに過ごすよう声をかけておきましょう。16:00に終了するため、15時半には片づけを始めると余裕をもって帰れます。

Tips

The months and hours when it is open to the public change from year to year, so check in advance. Follow the on-site guidance regarding eating and playing in the garden. Parts of the paths are dirt or gravel, so comfortable walking shoes are best. For restrooms, using nearby facilities is the surest option.
