The water is shallow, so even children who have only just started walking can dip their feet and play. The park's greatest appeals are its scenery and spaciousness: surrounded by well-tended gardens and a broad lawn plaza, on clear days you can see from Hakodate's urban area all the way to the Tsugaru Strait. With restrooms at the park center and a well-maintained parking lot, it is an environment where you can spend a whole day with small children at ease. The wind crossing the hilltop is cooler than in town, so even a midsummer afternoon feels comfortable.
