Shiki-no-Mori Park (四季の杜公園) Water Play Area
About this spot
The Shiki-no-Mori Park (四季の杜公園) Water Play Area is a free water play spot within a park spread across a hilltop in Hakodate City. In 2026 it opens from Wednesday, July 1, becoming available as soon as preparations are complete (the closing date has not been announced). The water is shallow, so even children who have only just started walking can dip their feet and play. The park's greatest appeals are its scenery and spaciousness: surrounded by well-tended gardens and a broad lawn plaza, on clear days you can see from Hakodate's urban area all the way to the Tsugaru Strait. With restrooms at the park center and a well-maintained parking lot, it is an environment where you can spend a whole day with small children at ease. The wind crossing the hilltop is cooler than in town, so even a midsummer afternoon feels comfortable.
Season & hours
Name: 四季の杜公園 水遊び場
Date & time: 7/1 (Wed)より準備が整い次第利用可(終了日は未発表)
Venue: 函館市・四季の杜公園
Tips
The opening status depends on how preparations progress, so check the Hakodate City information before you leave. Shade is limited on the lawn plaza, so a pop-up tent or picnic sheet makes resting easier. The hilltop can be windy on some days, which lowers the perceived temperature, so bring an extra layer. Changing spaces are limited, so putting swimsuits on under clothes makes getting ready on site much easier.
Best time to visit
Arriving at 13:30 gives you about 3 hours 15 minutes, playing until the beautiful evening scenery
