The place name Tonden derives from the tondenhei (屯田兵) farmer-soldiers of the pioneer era, making this just the right spot to talk with children about how this land was opened up. There are no showy sights here, but beginning the day by quietly offering a prayer before heading off to play gives the outing a pleasant sense of focus. Tonden Nishi Park (屯田西公園) is within walking distance.

屯田西公園水遊び場(ウォータースライダー)は、札幌市北区の屯田西公園にある無料の水遊び場です。2026年は7月5日(日)から8月23日(日)まで、9:00〜16:00に開放されます。いちばんの目玉は3レーンあるウォータースライダーで、無料の公園とは思えない滑り心地に子どもたちが何度も列に並びます。滑台のほかに浅い水遊び場も備わっているので、まだ滑るのが怖い小さな子は足をひたすところから遊べます。園内にはトイレがあり、着替えもその場で済ませられるのが助かるところ。3レーンあるぶん回転が早く、混み合う日でも待ち時間が長くなりにくいのも利点です。

Tips

気象状況により期間や開放が変動することがあるため、出発前に当日の状況を確認してください。スライダーは順番を守り、現地の利用ルールと係員の指示に従いましょう。滑るときに肘やひざをすりむくことがあるので、ラッシュガードとばんそうこうがあると安心です。9:00から開いているので、混雑を避けたい日は午前から入るという選び方もできます。16:00に終了するため、15時半には片づけを始めましょう。
