This shopping complex spreads out in front of Shin-Sapporo Station and is the centre of shopping and dining in Atsubetsu Ward. With plenty of restaurants gathered together, it is easy for everyone to choose what they feel like eating, and helpfully easy to find a seat even with small children. Being indoors, you can spend the hours of strongest sunshine in the cool. Sunscreen, plastic bags, drinks and anything else you still need for water play can all be gathered here, which lets you enjoy the afternoon with peace of mind. Toilets and nappy changing facilities are well provided, so getting everyone ready here means you can start playing as soon as you reach the park.

厚別西公園水遊び場は、札幌市厚別区の厚別西公園に夏だけ現れる浅い水遊び場です。2026年は7月1日(水)から8月31日(月)まで、9:30〜16:30に開放され、利用は無料です。二か月にわたって開いているので、夏休みのあいだに何度でも通えるのがこの水遊び場のよいところ。水深が浅いため、歩き始めたばかりの子でも自分の足で立って遊べます。入れ替えや順番待ちがなく、遊びたいときに入って疲れたら木陰で休むという自由なリズムで過ごせるのも公園ならではの気楽さです。近所の子どもたちが集まる場所なので、その日はじめて会った子と一緒に遊びだす姿もよく見られます。

Tips

開放は9:30〜16:30です。天候不良や清掃、水質管理の都合で休みになる日があるため、出発前に札幌市の案内で当日の状況を確認してください。更衣室はないので、水着は下に着ていくか、ラップタオルなどで着替えられる用意をしておくと安心です。札幌の夏は日が陰ると急に涼しくなるので、上がったあとに羽織る一枚を必ず持っていってください。日陰が限られるため、レジャーシートと帽子があると休憩が楽になります。

Tips

It gets crowded at lunchtime, so arriving before noon makes it easier to find a seat. Spending too long shopping will cut into your afternoon water play, so it is more efficient to write a list before you go in. There is heavy foot traffic in front of the station, so hold hands with children so nobody gets separated. Atsubetsu-Nishi Park (厚別西公園) is about 10 minutes away by car.
