About this spot

This green space sits on high ground in Toyohira Ward, Sapporo, wrapped in dense woodland even though it is right in the city. The climb up the slopes and steps is a little demanding for small children, but the view over the city at the top makes the sense of achievement all the greater. The shade continues even in summer, so you can walk while staying out of the direct sun. In a city with so much flat land, standing on high ground like this makes it clear how far Sapporo spreads, and you can share with your children the moment when the map and the real landscape connect. A little exercise in the morning keeps the whole day flowing pleasantly through to the water play in the afternoon.

吉田山公園水遊び池は、札幌市白石区の吉田山公園に夏だけ現れる浅い水遊び場です。2026年は7月10日(金)から8月31日(月)まで、9:00〜17:00に開放され、利用は無料です。朝から夕方まで長く開いているので、家族の予定に合わせて時間を選べるのが助かります。水深が浅いため、歩き始めたばかりの子でも自分の足で立って遊べるのが安心なところ。入れ替えや順番待ちがなく、遊びたいときに入って疲れたら木陰で休むという自由なリズムで過ごせます。午前に坂道を歩いてきた足を冷たい水で休ませられるのも、この組み立てのよいところです。

Tips

開放は9:00〜17:00ですが、天候や清掃の都合で変わることがあるため、出発前に札幌市の案内で当日の状況を確認してください。更衣室はないので、水着は下に着ていくか、ラップタオルなどで着替えられる用意をしておきましょう。札幌の夏は日が陰ると急に涼しくなるので、上がったあとに羽織る一枚が必要です。日陰が限られるため、レジャーシートと帽子があると休憩がぐっと楽になります。

Tips

There are slopes and steps, so wear comfortable walking shoes rather than sandals. Some sections are hard going with a stroller, so a baby carrier may be easier for small children. It is the season for insects, so repellent will keep you comfortable. Prepare drinks before you leave and take frequent rests as you climb.
