The Shunkoen Park Wading Pool (春光園 徒渉池) is a shallow water play area opened only for the summer in Shunkoen Park, Asahikawa City. In 2026 it is open from Monday 1 June to Monday 31 August, from 10:00 to 17:00, and use is free. The water is shallow, so even children who have only just started walking can stand and move about on their own feet - a reassuring point. There is no queue and no timed session, so children can go in and come out again at their own pace. It is an old park with large mature trees, so there is plenty of shade and adults can rest while keeping watch. The contrast of children voices ringing out in the very same historic streets you walked through in the morning gives this day its particular flavour.
