Hokuchin Memorial Museum (北鎮記念館)
About this spot
Located in Shunko-cho, Asahikawa City, this memorial museum exhibits materials relating to the former Imperial Army 7th Division. Asahikawa developed greatly along with the establishment of the division, and you can follow that history through actual documents and photographs. The exhibits have a calm atmosphere, and reading the explanations as you go reveals why the streets you are walking today took their present form. Admission is free and the scale is modest enough that you will not tire, making it just right for an hour in the morning. For children, it works well as a starting point for talking about what kind of town Asahikawa once was.
Tips
Check the official information for opening days and hours. The exhibits carry historical background, so adding explanations suited to your child's age will make them easier to understand. Follow the on-site guidance for how to use the parking lot.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour. Right after opening it is quiet and you can look around at your own pace
