A long-established shop whose name always comes up when people talk about Asahikawa ramen. Sealing a soup of seafood and pork bone under a lid of scorched lard is known as a bowl that stays hot, born in Asahikawa where the winter cold is severe. The noodles are thin, wavy Chinese-style noodles, so they are easy even for children to slurp, which helps a lot. This is a neighborhood eatery rather than a tourist restaurant, so the time spent eating among locals itself becomes a memory of the place. Given how much you will move in the afternoon, eating well here is the right call.
Tips
Lines can form at lunchtime, so arriving in the 11 o'clock hour makes it easier to be seated without waiting. Bringing a small plate and fork for sharing makes it easier to feed small children. The soup is rich, so do not forget to drink water afterwards. When it is busy, leaving your seat soon after finishing keeps things pleasant for everyone.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 20 minutes. Arriving in the 11 o'clock hour avoids the lunch peak.
