About this spot

One of Funabashi Andersen Park's five zones, this area is lined with objects and play equipment themed after Andersen's fairy tales. It has a 2.5-meter-tall heart-shaped topiary and a miniature garden recreating the townscape of 19th-century Odense, Denmark, where Andersen grew up, making this zone the most photogenic spot in the park. There's also net-climbing equipment shaped like the lizard from the fairy tale 'The Elf Mound' and Ida's house and swing from 'Little Ida's Flowers,' so play here first to get used to the park's atmosphere. Finish up here early in the morning and move on before it gets hot.

Tips

Admission is 900 yen for adults, 600 yen for high schoolers, 200 yen for elementary and junior high schoolers, 100 yen for young children (age 4 and up), and free for those 65 and older, and use of the Rainbow Pond is included in this admission fee. On summer weekends the parking lot fills up early, so it's reassuring to arrive around opening time. The main paths are paved and stroller-friendly, but there are slopes, so bringing a baby carrier as well makes moving around easier.
