About this spot

A specialist museum devoted to birds, standing on the shore of Lake Teganuma. The exhibition rooms, lined with specimens ranging from the birds that gather at Lake Teganuma to birds of the world, have real impact and a pull that draws children in on their own. There are also displays on how wings are built and how birds fly, which is fascinating because they answer the simple question of why birds can fly. It is indoors and air-conditioned, so you can spend the sunniest part of the morning in comfort. The Splash Pond is close by along the lakeshore, and the short distance between the two is a real help for families.

我孫子市の手賀沼親水広場にある、無料の水遊び場「手賀沼親水広場じゃぶじゃぶ池」です。2026年は4月29日(水)から9月23日(水)まで、10時から16時まで利用できます。ゴールデンウィーク(4/29〜5/10)と夏休み(7/18〜8/31)は毎日開放され、9月は9月23日までの土日祝のみの開放になります。8月24日(月)と8月25日(火)はメンテナンスのため休止です。熱中症警戒アラートや光化学スモッグ注意報が発令された日は利用できないため、当日の発表を確認してから出かけてください。隣接する水の館にコインシャワー(5分100円)とコインロッカー(1日100円)があり、遊んだあとにさっぱりしてから帰れるのが、他のじゃぶじゃぶ池にはない大きな強みです。

Tips

コインシャワーとコインロッカーの利用に100円玉が必要なので、事前に用意しておきましょう。夏休み期間以外は開放日が限られるため、6月や9月に行く場合はカレンダーの確認が欠かせません。熱中症警戒アラートが出た日は中止になるので、猛暑日の予報が出ている日は朝のうちに確認を。16時で終了なので、15時台には片付けを始めると落ち着いて帰れます。

Tips

The museum is closed on Mondays (the next weekday if Monday is a public holiday). Fees and exhibition content can change during special exhibitions, so check the official information before you go. It is a quiet space, so telling small children about the appropriate tone of voice in advance keeps things smooth. You can view the exhibits without leaving your stroller.
