The market is lined with vegetables grown in Abiko, and because the lineup changes with the seasons, the shopping itself becomes an enjoyable part of the day. Its biggest advantage is that it stands on the same grounds as the Splash Pond, so after lunch you simply pick up your bags and walk over to the water. The coin-operated shower costs 100 yen for 5 minutes and a coin locker costs 100 yen per day, so having 100-yen coins ready saves a scramble. The dining area gets crowded around noon on weekends, so arriving between 11:00 and 12:00 keeps things smooth. Popular vegetables can sell out in the morning, so head to the sales floor first if shopping is your priority. Buy drinks for the afternoon at the same time.
