Shibamata Taishakuten Temple (柴又帝釈天)

This Nichiren-sect temple stands in the heart of the town of Shibamata, right by the ferry landing. Its formal name is Daikyoji (題経寺), but visitors know it affectionately as Taishakuten. The highlight is the intricate woodcarving that covers the building; walls carved with scenes from the scriptures make even adults stop in their tracks. The grounds are not too large, so families with small children can walk the whole circuit without strain. Visiting it together with the ferry ride makes the feeling of having crossed a river into a different town very clear, and even children get a real sense of travel.

松戸市が『おでかけマップ』の親水施設として紹介している、無料の水遊び場「柳原親水広場（親水池）」です。水深の浅い親水池が中心なので、歩き始めたばかりの子でも自分の足で水の中に入っていけます。ベンチとトイレ、駐車場がそろっていて、着替えや休憩の場所に困らないのが家族連れにはありがたいところ。料金がかからないため、午前だけ、夕方だけといった短時間の使い方もしやすい施設です。2026年の開設期間は未発表で、例年は夏休み期間に水が入ります。江戸川の土手が近く、水遊びの前後に川辺を歩けるのもこの場所ならではの楽しみ方です。

Tips

開設期間が未発表のため、出かける前に松戸市の案内で当日の開設状況を確認してください。日陰は限られるので、レジャーシートと帽子、日焼け止めを忘れずに。池の底は滑りやすいことがあるため、素足ではなくマリンシューズやサンダルが安心です。おむつが取れていない子は水遊び用おむつを用意し、遊んだあとは水道でしっかり洗い流しましょう。

Tips

Some sections, such as the carving gallery and the garden, need a separate admission fee. Check at the reception desk on the day whether you want to see them. Parts of the grounds are gravelled, so strollers can be hard to push. The daytime sun in summer is strong, so choose the shade and work in some rest stops.
