Fuse Benten Tokaiji Temple (布施弁天東海寺)

About this spot

This is an old temple standing on high ground overlooking the Tone River (利根川), long known affectionately by the name Fuse Benten. The vermilion two-storey gate, main hall and bell tower lined up together make an imposing sight, with a presence quite unlike a temple in a residential district. Climb the stone steps and stand in the precincts, and you take in the surrounding fields and river at a glance, which gives you some sense of why this place has drawn devotion for so long. It is right next to Akebonoyama Agricultural Park, just the right distance for a stop at the start of the day. Telling children it is 「the old temple next to the park」 helps them walk in without feeling on edge.

Venue: 柏市・あけぼの山農業公園

柏市のあけぼの山農業公園にある、無料の水遊び場「あけぼの山農業公園みずあそびコーナー」です。例年8月2日(日)から8月31日(月)まで、10時から15時30分まで開放され、開園日のみの実施で雨天は中止になります。ふるさと広場(裏門付近)にある浅いプールと、てんとう虫型の噴水で遊べる構成で、小さな子でも安心して水に入れます。テント・よしず・ベンチによる日除けが用意されているので、真夏でも休憩をはさみながら長く過ごせるのがこの公園の大きな強みです。入園料と駐車場はどちらも無料。パークセンターにキッズルームと売店があるため、1日をこの公園の中だけで組み立てられます。

Tips

15時30分で終了なので、15時前には着替えの準備を始めると落ち着いて帰れます。日除けのテントやよしずの下は人気なので、早めに場所を確保しておくと快適です。雨天は中止になるため、当日の天気を確かめてから出かけてください。開園日のみの実施なので、公園の休園日と重ならないかも合わせて確認しましょう。

Tips

There are stone steps, so there will be moments when a baby carrier is easier to manage than a stroller. The precincts are a place of worship, so tell children beforehand not to run about. The sun is strong in summer, so do not forget hats and drinks. Parking in the free car park at Akebonoyama Agricultural Park and walking over makes the journey easier.
