A municipal museum in one corner of Yakuendai Park that introduces the history and industries of Funabashi. Old farming and fishing tools and everyday household items are on display, revealing a way of life that is hard to imagine from the city as it looks today. The exhibition rooms are compact, so even families with small children can see the whole thing while attention lasts. Being indoors and air-conditioned, it is also a dependable place to spend a bright, hot morning. Because it sits in the same park as the wading pool, the walk after your visit takes only a few minutes, which is a big advantage.
Tips
The museum may be closed on Mondays and on the day after a public holiday, so check the opening days on the official information before you go. What you can see changes during exhibit changeovers and special exhibitions. The galleries are quiet, so telling small children about indoor voices beforehand makes things go smoothly. Leaving the stroller near the entrance lets you look around unencumbered.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 10 minutes. The morning, before the sunshine turns strong, is the most comfortable time
