About this spot

A municipal zoological park in Wakaba Ward, Chiba City, where you can meet red pandas among many other animals. The Animal Science Museum has exhibits on animal anatomy and how animals live, and being indoors it is a dependable refuge during the hottest hours. The grounds have little change in elevation and the paths are well maintained, so it is easy to get around with a stroller, which families appreciate. There are shops and a restaurant, so lunch can be handled inside the park. The afternoon fountain is in the Central Plaza within the same grounds, so working your way toward it while watching the animals feels natural.

Tips

Admission is 700 yen for adults and free for junior high school students and younger. There are closed days, so check the opening days on the official information before you go. In summer the animals often rest in the shade, so morning and evening are when you see them at their most active. The grounds are large, so confirming where the fountain is at the entrance makes moving around smoother.
