Goi Station (五井駅) in Ichihara City (市原市) is the starting point of the Kominato Railway (小湊鐵道), which runs inland across the Boso (房総) area. Beside the station is a train depot, where you can look from outside at several distinctively colored cars lined up together. Rather than chasing moving trains, you can take your time looking at parked cars, which is the good thing about this stop for small children. It can be wrapped up in a short time, so it is also useful for adjusting your timing to the start of the fountain. For a child who loves vehicles, this might be the biggest thrill of the day.

市原市の千種ふれあい公園にある無料の水遊び場「千種ふれあい公園噴水」です。噴水は7月1日(水)から8月31日(月)まで、9時15分から11時までの時間帯に稼働します。動き出す時刻がはっきり決まっているので、開始に合わせて到着すれば、いちばん空いている状態から遊び始められるのがこの公園の使い方のコツ。公園には芝生広場、ローラーすべり台、複合遊具もそろっているため、噴水が止まったあとも遊びが途切れません。料金がかからないので、水遊びだけの短時間利用も気軽にできます。夏の日中の暑さを避けて午前で切り上げられるのは、小さな子連れにとってむしろ好都合です。

Tips

稼働時間は9時15分から11時までと限られているため、11時を過ぎると水は出ません。日程や時間が変更されることもあるので、出かける前に公園の案内で当日の稼働を確認してください。噴水の周囲は濡れて滑りやすくなるので、走らないよう声をかけ、マリンシューズやサンダルを履かせると安心です。11時以降は日差しが強くなるので、木陰で着替えてから遊具へ移りましょう。

Tips

Do not enter the depot grounds; keep to viewing from the station or public roads. Footing is poor in places along the tracks, so do not let go of your child. Buying drinks at the station kiosk or a vending machine means you will not run short of hydration at the park. The fountain starts at 9:15, so wrapping up here in about 15 minutes is the guideline for your timing.
