A nationally designated historic site developed on the remains of Kazusa Kokubun-niji, one of the provincial nunnery temples built across the country in the Nara period. Part of the middle gate and corridor has been restored at full scale, and the appeal of this place is that you experience the sheer size of the buildings rather than photographs or plans. Walk across the wide grassland and imagine together with your children that a great temple once stood here. Early in the morning there are few people and the sunlight is gentle, which makes it good for walking. Since the fountain only runs in the morning, this is a fine place to make a pleasant start to the day.

市原市の千種ふれあい公園にある無料の水遊び場「千種ふれあい公園噴水」です。噴水は7月1日(水)から8月31日(月)まで、9時15分から11時までの時間帯に稼働します。動き出す時刻がはっきり決まっているので、開始に合わせて到着すれば、いちばん空いている状態から遊び始められるのがこの公園の使い方のコツ。公園には芝生広場、ローラーすべり台、複合遊具もそろっているため、噴水が止まったあとも遊びが途切れません。料金がかからないので、水遊びだけの短時間利用も気軽にできます。夏の日中の暑さを避けて午前で切り上げられるのは、小さな子連れにとってむしろ好都合です。

Tips

稼働時間は9時15分から11時までと限られているため、11時を過ぎると水は出ません。日程や時間が変更されることもあるので、出かける前に公園の案内で当日の稼働を確認してください。噴水の周囲は濡れて滑りやすくなるので、走らないよう声をかけ、マリンシューズやサンダルを履かせると安心です。11時以降は日差しが強くなるので、木陰で着替えてから遊具へ移りましょう。

Tips

The adjoining exhibition hall has fixed opening hours, so early in the morning you will be viewing the restored outdoor structures from outside. If you also want to see the exhibits, check the opening hours in advance and rearrange your schedule. The grassland can be wet with morning dew, so shoes you do not mind getting dirty are reassuring. There is little shade, so wrap up quickly and move on.
