Kazusa Kokubunji Temple Ruins (上総国分寺跡)

This is a nationally designated historic site where the remains of Kazusa Kokubunji, one of the provincial temples built across the country in the Nara period, have been laid out for visitors. No buildings remain, but the foundation stones and precinct divisions have been made easy to read, so you can sense the scale of the original complex as you walk. The surrounding area is called Kokubunjidai, the land that was the center of ancient Kazusa Province. Because it is an open grassy field, it is a perfect spot for children at the age when they want to run. Seeing the excavated finds at the Buried Cultural Properties Research Center, your next stop, helps even young children grasp the connection with this place.

市原市の住宅地の中にある緑地の無料の水遊び場「泉台中央緑地せせらぎ」です。人工のせせらぎ(水路)が緑地を貫いていて、水深が浅いので歩き始めたばかりの子でも自分の足で入っていけます。プールのように区切られていないぶん、流れをたどって歩く、水をせき止める、葉っぱを流すなど、子どもが自分で遊び方を見つけられるのがこの場所のよさ。まわりが住宅地なので、大型レジャー施設のような混雑がなく、落ち着いて過ごせます。利用は無料で、短時間だけ立ち寄る使い方もできます。2026年の開設期間は未発表で、例年は夏休み期間に水が流れます。

Tips

開設期間が未発表のため、出かける前に市原市の案内で当日の通水状況を確認してください。水路の底は滑りやすいことがあるので、素足ではなくマリンシューズやサンダルが安心です。住宅地の中の緑地なので、声の大きさや駐車の仕方に気を配りましょう。おむつが取れていない子は水遊び用おむつを用意し、遊んだあとは足をよく洗い流してください。
