Urayasu City Folk Museum (浦安市郷土博物館)

About this spot

This is a museum where you can experience life in Urayasu back when it was still a fishing town through an outdoor recreation of the townscape. Step into the alleys lined with wooden houses and the narrow frontages and earthen-floor construction convey how densely people lived at the time. Beka boats, used for cultivating nori seaweed and gathering shellfish, are on display, and children are especially struck by the chances to actually ride in one. The indoor exhibition rooms also show how the town changed through land reclamation, which makes the contrast with today's Urayasu surprising. Admission is free, so it is welcome that you can drop in casually and stay a long while.

市川市の広尾防災公園にある、無料の水遊び場「広尾防災公園水に親しむ広場」です。公園には水に親しむ広場のほか、芝生広場・遊具・防災施設がそろっていて、水に飽きたら遊具、遊具に飽きたらまた水と、子どもが自分のペースで遊び続けられるのが良いところ。水深が浅いので、はじめての水遊びにも向いています。開設期間は未発表で、例年は夏休み期間の開放となっています。出かける前に市川市の案内で確認してから向かうと確実です。利用は無料なので、短時間だけ立ち寄る使い方もでき、近所のおでかけ先として気軽に選べます。

開設期間が未発表なので、必ず事前に市川市の案内で確認してから出かけてください。開けた場所で日陰が限られるため、帽子とラッシュガードで日差しを防ぎましょう。更衣室は期待せず、着替えはトイレか日陰で済ませる準備をしておくと慌てません。水遊びのあとは体が冷えるので、乾いた着替えとタオルを多めに用意してください。

Closed on Mondays (the next weekday if Monday is a public holiday). The exhibits are mainly outdoors, so bring a hat and drinks. Hands-on programs vary by day, so checking the official information beforehand keeps things as you expect. There are spots in the recreated alleys where a stroller is hard to push through.
