This is an area of broad lawn and play equipment inside the same Hiroo Disaster Prevention Park as the water plaza. It is an open space where the breeze passes through, and if you pick a shady spot it is just the right setting to lay out a picnic sheet and eat lunch. Having play equipment nearby is also handy, letting children move around lightly after eating and get ready for water play. Because this park is normally maintained as a site equipped with disaster-prevention functions, playing here is also a chance for parents and children to learn about a place to go in an emergency. Do not count on a shop on site; prepare your lunch and drinks in advance.

Tips

Shady spots tend to fill up before noon, so arrive early and secure a place under a tree. Rather than getting into the water right after eating, resting about 20 minutes before moving on is easier on the body. Checking where the restrooms are in advance makes the afternoon smoother. The lawn gets muddy after rain, so a ground sheet you do not mind getting dirty is reassuring.
