This bronze Great Buddha is known as the symbol of Kamagaya City, and is so familiar to locals that a station is named after it. If you arrive imagining the Great Buddhas of Nara or Kamakura, its approachable size may come as a surprise. It sits on a small plot at a street corner, blending naturally into everyday scenery, and that is what makes this Buddha interesting. It is only a short walk from Shisei Kinen Park (市制記念公園), which makes it a perfect light stop to begin the day. Look up at it together with your child and talk about why it might be here.

鎌ケ谷市の市制記念公園にある、無料の水遊び場「市制記念公園水遊び場（噴水）」です。未就学児向けに整えられた噴水式の水遊び場で、2024年に整備された比較的新しい設備です。水深がほとんどないタイプなので、はじめて水遊びをする小さな子でも段階を踏んで慣れていけます。市の公式は「夏期のみ」と案内していて日付の記載はないため、出かける前に確認してから向かってください。開設期間は未発表で、例年は夏休み期間の開放となっています。公園そのものの利用時間は9時から17時まで、夏季は9時から19時までで、利用は無料なので夕方に涼みに立ち寄る使い方もできます。

開設期間が未発表なので、必ず事前に鎌ケ谷市の案内で確認してから出かけてください。未就学児向けの設備なので、小学生の兄姉がいる場合は遊具や芝生と組み合わせると全員が楽しめます。水遊び用おむつが必要な年齢の子は忘れずに用意しましょう。日陰は限られるので、帽子とラッシュガードで日差しを防いでください。

Tips

The grounds are small, so a visit takes only a short time. The surrounding streets are local residential roads, so watch out for traffic. Do not count on a dedicated parking lot; parking at Shisei Kinen Park (市制記念公園) and walking over is the sure bet. There is little shade, so do not forget a hat and drinks.
