About this spot

This is a natural habitat of carnivorous plants in Sanmu City, designated a National Natural Monument. A boardwalk crosses the wetland, and from it you can observe small plants such as sundews. There are no big showy flowers, so you end up crouching down and searching carefully, but that time spent finding things is itself an interesting experience for children. Hearing on site how these plants catch insects for nutrients makes knowledge from picture books suddenly three-dimensional. Precisely because the afternoon is for playing in the water, the morning is best spent quietly looking at waterside nature.

山武市の里山に広がる公園の無料の水遊び場「さんぶの森公園小川・やすらぎの池」です。やすらぎの池へ流れ込む小川があり、浅い流れをたどって歩いたり、石を並べて水をせき止めたりと、決められた遊び方のない自由さがこの場所の魅力。ふれあい広場やローラーすべり台もそろっているので、体が冷えたら遊具で温まり、暑くなったらまた水へ、と1日中遊びが続きます。まわりを木立に囲まれているため日陰が確保しやすく、レジャーシートを広げてお昼ごはんを食べる場所にも困りません。入園は無料で、2026年の開設期間は未発表、例年は夏休み期間に水が流れます。

Tips

開設期間が未発表のため、出かける前に山武市の案内で当日の状況を確認してください。小川の底は石で滑りやすいことがあるので、素足ではなくマリンシューズやサンダルが安心です。池のそばでは子どもから目を離さないようにしましょう。林が近いので虫よけがあると快適です。おむつが取れていない子は水遊び用おむつを用意してください。

This is a precious natural habitat, so before entering, promise with your children not to step off the boardwalk and not to touch or pick the plants. There are many insects in the wetland, so insect repellent and longer socks give peace of mind. Opening conditions and viewing arrangements may change, so check the Sanmu City information before you go. There is little shade, so do not forget a hat and drinks.
