The house where the poet Ito Sachio, known for the novel The Grave of the Wild Chrysanthemum, was born and raised has been preserved in a form that conveys its original appearance. The earthen floor, the pillars and the low ceilings give a concrete sense of how Meiji-era farming families lived. At the adjacent Sanmu City Museum of History and Folklore (山武市歴史民俗資料館), tools and materials from this area are on display, so you can learn the background to the way of life you felt in the house. Rather than difficult talk about literature, the physical sense of how houses used to be stays with children far longer. Because it is indoors, it also serves as a refuge during the hours when the sun is strongest.

山武市の里山に広がる公園の無料の水遊び場「さんぶの森公園小川・やすらぎの池」です。やすらぎの池へ流れ込む小川があり、浅い流れをたどって歩いたり、石を並べて水をせき止めたりと、決められた遊び方のない自由さがこの場所の魅力。ふれあい広場やローラーすべり台もそろっているので、体が冷えたら遊具で温まり、暑くなったらまた水へ、と1日中遊びが続きます。まわりを木立に囲まれているため日陰が確保しやすく、レジャーシートを広げてお昼ごはんを食べる場所にも困りません。入園は無料で、2026年の開設期間は未発表、例年は夏休み期間に水が流れます。

開設期間が未発表のため、出かける前に山武市の案内で当日の状況を確認してください。小川の底は石で滑りやすいことがあるので、素足ではなくマリンシューズやサンダルが安心です。池のそばでは子どもから目を離さないようにしましょう。林が近いので虫よけがあると快適です。おむつが取れていない子は水遊び用おむつを用意してください。

Opening days and hours are fixed, so check the Sanmu City information before you go. The building is old and wooden, so tell children the rules in advance: no running, no climbing on the pillars. After the visit, the plan assumes driving to Sanbu-no-Mori Park. If you are having lunch at the park, it is reassuring to finish your shopping before this stop.
