Sanbu-no-Mori Park Stream and Yasuragi Pond

About this spot

This is the free water play area Sanbu-no-Mori Park Stream and Yasuragi Pond, in a park spread across the countryside hills of Sanmu City. A stream flows into Yasuragi Pond, and the charm of the place is its freedom: there is no set way to play, so you can follow the shallow flow on foot or line up stones to dam the water. The Fureai Plaza open space and a roller slide are here too, so when bodies get cold children warm up on the play equipment and when they get hot they head back into the water, keeping play going all day. Surrounded by groves of trees, shade is easy to find and there is no shortage of places to spread a picnic sheet for lunch. Admission is free; the 2026 operating period has not been announced, but in most years the water runs during the summer holidays.

Tips

Because the operating period has not been announced, check the Sanmu City information for the day's conditions before you go. The bed of the stream is stony and can be slippery, so water shoes or sandals are safer than bare feet. Keep an eye on children near the pond. The woods are close by, so insect repellent makes things more comfortable. For children not yet out of nappies, bring swim nappies.

Best time to visit

About 3 hours 30 minutes. After lunch, water play in the afternoon as the sunlight softens is recommended
