The Kimitsu Chuo Park Fountain Plaza (君津中央公園 噴水広場) is a free water play spot in the centre of Kimitsu City. The fountains run from Saturday, July 4 to Monday, August 31, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. In July they run only on the 4th, 5th, 11th and 12th, and then from the 18th onward, so check the date carefully if you are planning to go in mid-July. Besides the Fountain Plaza there are combination playground equipment and a lawn area, so children can move at their own pace — to the playground when they tire of the water, back to the water when they get hot. Bare feet are not permitted, so water shoes or sandals are essential. Use is free, and it also suits an itinerary where you spend the morning elsewhere and drop in only in the afternoon.

Tips
The fountains run only until 2:45 p.m., so working backwards, arriving a little after 12:30 p.m. gives you about two hours of play. Bare feet are not permitted, so be sure to bring water shoes or sandals that will not slip off. The area around the fountains gets wet and slippery, so remind children not to run. Operating days and hours may change, so check the Kimitsu City announcement before you set out.
