Seseragi Park Fountain and Flowing Water

The 「Seseragi Park Fountain and Flowing Water」 in Nagura, Koyaguchi-cho, Hashimoto City, is a waterside park created by making good use of the upper part of the Odai Irrigation Canal (小田井用水路), built in the Edo period. Normally it serves as a walking path above the canal, but Hashimoto City officially describes it as a place where 「every August a fountain and flowing water are run so visitors can enjoy a moment of cool」, making it a spot where you can savour the coolness along with the sound of water in summer. There is an arbour, benches and toilets, so families with small children can take their time with rest breaks. Admission is free, so you can also use it simply to drop by for a little coolness in the late afternoon. The fact that a piece of civil engineering heritage has become a playground just as it is, is another highlight unique to this park.

The specific dates for 2026 have not been announced. Before you go, check with Hashimoto City information whether the fountain and flowing water are running. The city's official page does not state whether entering the water is permitted, so follow the signs and guidance on site; to be safe, pack a light change of clothes so you can switch to simply cooling off at the water's edge if entry is not allowed. Wet stone paving is slippery, so wear footwear that protects the feet and take care not to run. Shade is limited to the area around the arbour, so do not forget a hat and frequent hydration.

Best time to visit

About 2 hours 30 minutes. The afternoon, when the sun softens, is recommended, and moving between the shade of the arbour and the water's edge is most comfortable.
