The Arakawa General Athletic Park Street Water Play Area in Sakura-ku, Saitama City. In 2026 it is available from Friday 1 May to around the end of October (around Saturday 31 October in 2026), from 9:00 to 17:00 (it may be unavailable due to cleaning and similar work). A fountain and a shallow stream are set along the promenade, and use is free. Its defining feature is that it stays open for nearly half a year, so you can choose to visit in early summer or early autumn and avoid the midsummer crowds. The open setting near the broad Arakawa riverbed also gives it expansive, refreshing scenery you will not find elsewhere. You can even use it casually, cooling your feet partway through a walk.

There are days when it cannot be used because of cleaning and similar work, so if you are coming from far away, check the day's status with the Saitama City Parks and Green Spaces Association for peace of mind. Some spots have little shade, so bring plenty of sun protection and drinks. No changing rooms are listed, so wearing swimwear under your clothes is the safe option. After playing, wash your feet well at the tap and take frequent breaks.
