About this spot

An open-air museum in Midori Ward, Saitama City, where old farmhouses, merchant houses, and former private homes that actually stood in this area have been relocated and restored. Step under a thatched roof and you can physically feel the outside heat ease off, and the ingenuity of old house construction comes through. Earthen floors, sunken hearths, and farming tools remain just as they were, making this a history lesson far easier for children to grasp than a textbook. Admission is free, and being able to walk the spacious grounds at a relaxed pace is another plus. It is close to Osaki Park (大崎公園) and just the right size for a first stop of the morning.

さいたま市緑区の大崎公園にある「大崎公園じゃぶじゃぶ池」です。2026年は7月18日(土)から8月31日(月)まで、10:00〜16:00の時間帯に開かれます。15時頃から排水が始まるため、たっぷり遊びたい場合は午後の早い時間に入るのがおすすめです。利用は無料で、同じ公園内には入園無料の子供動物園が併設され、トイレも整っています。まわりには見沼田んぼの田園風景が広がり、緑に囲まれた静かな環境で水遊びができるのがこの公園ならでは。動物園と水遊びが1か所でそろい、しかもどちらも無料という点で、夏休みの強い味方になります。

Tips

7月27日(月)・8月10日(月)・8月24日(月)は清掃のため休止です。悪天候・台風接近時も休止になるので、出かける前に公園の公式サイトで当日の状況を確認してください。15時頃から排水が始まるので、水深のある状態で遊びたいなら14時前後までに入りましょう。水遊び後は水道で足をよく洗い、木陰で休憩をはさみながら遊ぶと熱中症を防げます。おむつが取れていない子は水遊び用おむつを用意してください。

Tips

Since it is an outdoor facility, visiting early in the morning to avoid the hours of strong sunlight is recommended. There are places inside the buildings where you remove your shoes to step up, so easy-on, easy-off footwear makes things smoother.
