Nakanoike Park Fountain (Water Play Plaza)

About this spot

The Nakanoike Park Fountain (Water Play Plaza) is a free water-play spot in a park surrounded by a residential district of Hirakata City. The 2026 season runs from Friday, June 26 until mid-September, open 9:00 to 18:00. Because the closing date is given only as mid-September, it is safest to check whether it is running before setting out once September begins. Built as a shallow fountain plaza, the water is not deep and the whole area is easy to survey, which brings peace of mind when letting small children play. There are restrooms in the park and admission is free, and since it runs until 18:00, on scorching days you can plan to head out after the sun starts to sink and play for just two or three evening hours. The greatest appeal of this place is that it feels like an extension of the neighbourhood park, somewhere you can casually visit the day you think of it.

Tips

The operating period may change depending on the weather, so check the Hirakata City information before you leave. The fountain floor becomes slippery when wet, so water-play sandals that will not slip off are safest. Assume there are no changing rooms, so a wrap towel or poncho you can pull on over your clothes makes changing easier. Shade is limited to under the trees around the plaza, so a hat and sunscreen are essential.

Best time to visit

Allow about three hours from 13:30. After 16:00, when the sun softens, it becomes even more comfortable
