Ohara Hachimangu Shrine (大原八幡宮)

This is a Hachimangu shrine that has drawn faith since ancient times as the guardian shrine of all Hita. Climb the stone steps of the approach and quiet precincts surrounded by trees open up, where the air feels cool even in midsummer. Though close to the town center, the sound of voices fades away here, making it a calm place that feels typically of Hita. Simply using the purification basin with your children and offering a prayer at the main hall gives the start of the day a sense of focus. Ask here for safety during your water play as well.

日田市若宮町の竹田公園にある「竹田公園せせらぎ水路」は、小さな子どもが遊べる浅瀬の水路です。延長約110メートル・幅員2〜25メートルとゆったりした造りで、流れをたどって歩いたり、広くなった場所で座り込んだりと、子どもが自分のペースで水に親しめます。開放期間は令和8年(2026年)7月1日から8月31日までで、利用は無料です。水から上がれば、すべり台3つの複合遊具やサポート付きブランコといったインクルーシブ遊具が待っていて、いろいろな子どもが一緒に遊べるよう配慮されています。三隈川に面した三日月状の公園なので、川風が抜けて日陰は思いのほか涼しく感じられます。遊具広場・多目的広場のほか相撲場やテニスコート3面、50メートルプールも備わった、地元の家族が通う夏の定番です。

Tips

清掃日(7月10日・17日・23日・30日、8月6日・12日・20日・27日)は水路を利用できないため、日程を決める前に必ず確認してください。日陰の場所は限られるので、ワンタッチテントやタープがあると快適に過ごせます。水路の底は滑りやすい場所があるため、かかとの留まる水遊び用サンダルを履かせてください。三隈川に面しているので、川べりへ出るときは必ず大人が付き添いましょう。

Tips

The approach has stone steps, so there are moments when a baby carrier moves more easily than a stroller. There is not always a vending machine in the precincts, so preparing drinks beforehand is reassuring. Mosquitoes appear in summer, so insect repellent will make your stay more comfortable.
