Open-Air Museum of Old Japanese Farm Houses (日本民家集落博物館)

About this spot

This is Japan's first open-air museum, located inside Hattori Ryokuchi Park. Farmhouses relocated from all over the country, such as gassho-style houses from Hida and takakura raised storehouses from Amami, are scattered through the woods, so simply following the route feels like traveling the length of the Japanese archipelago. Some buildings can be entered, and children are surprised by how dark and cool it feels standing on an earthen floor beside a sunken hearth. The groves block the summer sun, so despite being an outdoor museum it is easy to walk around. It is about 10 minutes by car from Senri Chuo Park, your afternoon destination, so the two connect without strain.

千里中央公園噴水・せせらぎは、豊中市の千里ニュータウンの高台にある公園の無料の水景施設です。2026年は1/1(木)〜12/31(木)の9:00〜22:00と通年で稼働し、清掃点検のため5/11〜15・6/1〜5・7/6〜10・8/24〜28・9/14〜18・10/19〜23は停止します。噴水・せせらぎ・滝という3つの水景がそろっているのがこの公園の大きな特色で、勢いよく浴びる、浅く流れる水を歩く、落ちる水を眺めるという三通りの過ごし方ができます。園内にはローラーすべり台と展望台があり、体を乾かしながら遊具で遊び、高いところから千里の街並みを見渡すという流れも作れます。料金は無料で、通年で動いているため季節を選ばず計画に組み込めるのが何よりの強みです。

Tips

清掃点検の停止期間が年6回あるので、出かける前に豊中市の案内で日程を確認してください。水景の床や石はぬれるとすべりやすいので、脱げにくい水遊び用サンダルが安心です。更衣室のない前提で、上から着られるラップタオルやポンチョを用意しておくと着替えがスムーズ。高台にあり駅から坂を上るため、飲み物を多めに持っていくと安心です。

Tips

Check opening hours and closed days in advance. You take your shoes off to enter the buildings, so shoes that slip on and off easily make things smoother. Some sections of the paths are dirt or gravel, so a stroller can be hard to push in places. It is in the woods, so insect repellent will make the visit more comfortable.
