A municipal archive room devoted to Fujiwara-kyo (藤原京), right next to the Fujiwara Palace Site. The highlight is a 1:1000 model of the capital, which shows at a glance where in the city the field you have just walked across used to be. Excavated artifacts and video displays make the history easy for children to take in as well. The building is air-conditioned, making it a good place to cool down after walking outdoors. Admission is free, so a short stop works fine too.

「東竹田近隣公園親水広場」は、橿原市の公式案内に「夏には親水広場で水遊びを楽しむことができます」と記された無料の水遊び場です。開設期間は未発表ですが、例年は夏季に楽しめます。水に飽きたら、小学生以上向けの大きな複合遊具と幼児用の小さな複合遊具を年齢に合わせて遊び分けられるのがこの公園の強みです。車いすのまま利用できるインクルーシブ遊具のブランコもあり、いろいろな子が同じ場所で一緒に遊べるよう考えられています。多目的広場・芝生広場・修景池を含めて公園面積は19,855平方メートルあり、木陰を選んでレジャーシートを広げれば一日中のんびり過ごせます。ドーム型運動施設のかしはらグリーンドームが隣接しているので、天気が急に崩れたときの逃げ場にもなります。

開設期間や時間は未発表のため、出かける前に橿原市の公式案内で当日の状況を確認してください。無料の水遊び場なので、短時間だけ立ち寄る使い方もできます。日陰は木立まわりに限られるので、レジャーシートと帽子を忘れずに。水遊びのあとは水道で足をよく洗い、着替えてから遊具に移ると気持ちよく遊べます。おむつが取れていない子は水遊び用おむつを用意しましょう。

Tips

Check the opening days and hours in advance on the official information page. The exhibition room is not large, so a full circuit takes about 30 minutes to an hour. There is a facility with a shop right next door, handy for topping up drinks. The layout makes it easy to look around while pushing a stroller.
