The Nijozan Furusato Park Waterside Terrace is a free water play area whose completion of repairs was announced in the official information from Katsuragi City (updated July 17, 2026), and which reopened on Saturday, July 18, 2026. Because it is a shallow man-made stream, there is nowhere the water gets deep, so even small children can enter safely with a guardian. The same park has a 7,000-square-meter lawn area, and Wanpaku Playground is equipped with a wooden combination play structure, a log suspension bridge, nets, and slides, so you can play all day going back and forth between the water and the equipment. There is also a log-cabin-style Toy House that serves as a refuge during the strongest sunshine or a sudden shower. Climb the 456 stone steps that are the symbol of the park and you reach an observation deck; if you still have energy, aiming for the evening view makes a fine finish. The closing date has not been announced, and it becomes a water play area only in summer.

Tips

This is not a pool and the streambed is slippery, so be sure to bring shoes that protect the feet, such as water shoes. Opening hours are 9:00 to 17:00, and the park is closed every Tuesday and Wednesday (open if Wednesday is a public holiday). Check the day of the week before setting out so it does not fall on a closed day. Since the closing date has not been announced, if you visit from September onward, check the official Katsuragi City information for the situation on the day. The 456 stone steps are hard on the legs after water play, so climbing them only when you have energy and time to spare is the safer choice.
