HOKUSHU Sendai City Science Museum

About this spot

A comprehensive science museum run by the City of Sendai, next to Dainohara Forest Park Its exhibits range widely from natural history to physics and living creatures, and many corners let you check things by moving them with your own hands. It is only a few stops on the Namboku Subway Line from Izumi-Chuo Station (泉中央駅), the closest station to Nanakita Park (七北田公園), which makes it easy to build into the day even without a car. Being indoors, you can stay out of the summer sun and save energy for the afternoon water play. Special exhibitions and craft workshops are sometimes held during the summer holidays, so checking the notices first makes for an efficient visit.

Season & hours

Name:

Venue:

Tips

Tips

Check closing days, opening hours and the schedule of special exhibitions on the official website in advance. The exhibits cover a wide area, so with small children it is less tiring to focus on a target such as the natural history displays on the third floor. It is within walking distance of Asahigaoka Station and there is a car park.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 40 minutes. The morning, before the sun gets strong, is the most comfortable
