Nanakita Park Water Play Area
About this spot
The free Nanakita Park Water Play Area in Yamaichi Sustena Park Nanakita Park (七北田公園), Izumi Ward, Sendai City. The park has water features such as Izumigaike Pond and Kamuri Pond, where children can dip their feet and send up sprays of water under the summer sun. Large play equipment and a lawn plaza sit right beside it, so children can build their own day at their own pace: to the playground when they tire of the water, back to the water when they tire of running. The Urban Greening Hall has a nursing room and a diaper-changing table, so there is little to worry about for breaks and changing even with small children. Admission is free, so a short stop is easy too.
Season & hours
Name: 七北田公園 水遊び場
Date & time: 開設期間は未発表 (例年は夏休み期間)
Venue: 仙台市泉区・やまいちサステナパーク七北田公園
Tips
The opening period has not been announced; in past years it has run during the summer holidays. Check the City of Sendai information for that day's status before you set out. Even where the water is shallow, never take your eyes off the children and always have an adult with them. Shade is limited to under the trees, so do not forget hats, drinks and a picnic sheet for resting. Children not yet out of nappies should wear swim nappies. After playing, rinse feet well at the tap and change clothes before heading home so no one gets chilled.
Best time to visit
About 2 hours 30 minutes. The afternoon, when the sun softens, is recommended
